Our Mission

Our mission is to inspire families to overcome obstacles, build lasting bonds, and create a brighter future together.

3Nique Girls is dedicated to empowering and strengthening the connection between mothers and daughters by providing resources, mentorship, and support that foster growth, resilience, and understanding. We are especially committed to assisting mothers and women facing life challenges, including substance abuse, by offering compassionate guidance and programs that promote healing and personal transformation.

Our Story

3Nique Girls is a nonprofit organization co-founded by a dynamic trio: mother LaTesha Monique and her daughters, Arykah Monique and Khori Monique. We recognize the crucial role the mother-daughter relationship plays in laying a strong foundation for a fulfilling life. Acknowledging the challenges that may arise, we are committed to offering resources that nurture and strengthen this vital connection.

The Importance of a mother and daughter relationship.

A daughter's need for her mother's love is a primal driving force that doesn't diminish with unavailability. Wounds may include lack of confidence and trust, along with difficulty setting healthy boundaries.

Study shows that, even more than other family dynamics, the mother-daughter relationship determines a girl's future relationship skills and self-esteem. It is the mission of 3Nique Girls to enhance the mother and daughter relationship for a better opportunity of quality life.

Substance abuse and the impact on women.

Substance abuse among women remains a critical public health concern, with recent data highlighting significant trends and challenges. According to the 2023 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH), approximately 32.1 million women in the United States have a mental or substance use disorder. Of these, 39% struggle with illicit drug use, and 5% face challenges with both illicit drugs and alcohol.

Alarmingly, the prevalence of cannabis use among young adult women has seen a notable increase. For the first time, data indicates that young adult women have surpassed their male counterparts in past-year cannabis use, with 40.5% reporting usage compared to 40.3% of young adult men. This shift underscores the evolving landscape of substance use among women.

Monitoring the Future

Despite the growing need for treatment, women often face disparities in accessing care. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) reports that globally, only one in 18 women with drug use disorders receives treatment, compared to one in 11 men. This gap highlights the necessity for gender-responsive approaches to substance abuse treatment.

UNODC

These statistics emphasize the urgent need for targeted interventions and support systems to address substance abuse among women, ensuring they receive the necessary care and resources to overcome these challenges.
